Charles-Théodore de Dalberg (1744-1817) was prince primate of the Roman Catholic Church in Germany. After an ecclesiastical career, he became bishop of Tarsus in Cilicia in 1788, then of Constance in 1800 and in 1802 became archbishop and prince-elector of Mainz, and bishop of Regensburg. He tried to oppose Napoleon but eventually rallied, and was then appointed First Prince (Fürst Primas) of the Confederation of the Rhine and Grand Duke of Frankfurt, a position he left to Eugène de Beauharnais in 1813.
