PCGS MS63 (55951540). By Johann Gotthelf Studer (IGS). With its slightly stained original lustre and minor handling marks. Superb to Fleur de coin. An ally of Napoleon I, Frederick Augustus I of Saxony was Grand Duke of Warsaw from June 1807 to June 1815. In 1812, when Napoleon left for Russia, the Duchy provided 100,000 soldiers led by Prince Poniatowski, the Duchy's Minister of War and later Marshal of France. After the French defeat and the Congress of Vienna, Frederick Augustus retained his kingdom, but his claims to Poland were abandoned in favour of Tsar Alexander I.
