Germany, Karl Griesbaum (1872-1941) Singing bird music box Rectangular in shape, gilded brass and polychrome enamel, decorated with a galant scene with an escarpolette in the style of Watteau on the lid and lakeside landscapes on the sides. The lid conceals a bird with iridescent feathers moving and singing, the mechanism being activated by a push-button on the front. H. 4.5 cm W. 10 cm D. 6.5 cm Condition report: With winding key, minor damage to the enamel, mechanism seems to work but needs to be overhauled Karl Griesbaum founded his watchmaking company in 1905. From 1920 onwards, he specialised in songbird automata, becoming one of the 20th century's leading producers.
