ROYAL ALMANACH, year 1777. Paris, Le Breton, [1777]. In-8, red morocco, large gilt rocaille plate in frame, coat of arms in centre, ornate spine, inner lace, lining and endpapers in Augsbourg paper, gilt edges (period binding). A copy bearing the coat of arms of the House of Rohan, bound in red morocco and decorated with a Dubuisson-style plate. The coat of arms, unknown to Guigard and Olivier, is attributable to Jules-Hercule-Mériadec de Rohan (1726-1788), prince of Guéméné and duke of Montbazon. The elder brother of Cardinal de Rohan, his military career culminated in his appointment as Lieutenant-General of the King's Armies. From the libraries of Abbé Jean-Baptiste Paramelle (1790-1875), author of a famous work on L'Art de découvrir les sources (1856), with bookplate; and of M. Boyé, with modern bookplate with the motto Solus cum libris. Minor craquelure to spine, small marginal worm damage to pp. 461-470, a few small marginal rings.
