Alpenländisch um 1300 Thronende Muttergottes Holz, dreiviertelrund geschnitzt, rückseitig abgeflacht und leicht ausgehöhlt. Große Reste einer einheitlichen älteren Farbfassung, die am Unterarm der Maria und dem Bein des Kindes auf eine dem Holz aufgelegte Leinwand aufgetragen ist. Flache Plinthe mit schlichter Thronbank, darauf sitzend die auf frontale Ansicht gestaltete Muttergottes in langem Kleid und mit über den Kopf gezogenem Umhang. Maria trägt das in ein rotes Gewand gekleidete Jesuskind auf ihrer rechten Hand, wobei das maßvoll bewegte und dem Betrachter zugewandte Kind nach dem Saum ihres Mantels greift. Die blockhafte Gestaltung und der hieratische Ausdruck der Skulptur werden zudem durch die Wiedergabe des über die Knie drapierten Umhangs der Maria belebt, der einen maßvoll naturalistischen Faltenfall zeigt. Rechter Arm des Kindes und linke Hand der Maria verloren. Rechte Schulter der Maria und unterer Abschluss hinten links alt angestückt. Vertikale Risse. Höhe 89 cm. Alp Region circa 1300 A figure of the Virgin enthroned, Alpine Region, circa 1300 Wood, carved three-quarters in the round, the reverse flattened and slightly hollowed. With extensive remains of uniform older polychromy which has been applied to a canvas laid out over the Virgin's forearm and the Child's leg. A frontal depiction of the Virgin, seated on a simple throne upon a flat plinth. She is dressed in a long gown and wears her cloak pulled over her head. The Child, wearing a red robe and held in the Virgin's right hand, is shown in a lively but graceful pose facing the beholder and grasping for the hem of his mother's cloak. The compact form and regal appearance of the sculpture are enlivened by the elegant and naturalistic drapery of the Virgin's cape over her knee. The Child's right arm and the Virgin's left hand lost. The Virgin's right shoulder and the lower left edge of the reverse are old replacements. With vertical cracks. Height 89 cm. Provenance Private collection, South Germany.
