Old roomsize Sarough rug Persia. Wool on cotton, circa 1920. The inky blue central field with a red-ground central medallion and a pattern of loosely scattered flowering branches and bothés. Bordered on the sides by column elements and architectural depictions. Surrounded by a wide, rose-coloured border consisting of a series of cartouche motifs with lines of poetry and foliage, bordered by narrow bands. 340 cm x 555 cm. A very large old Persian Sarough carpet.
