The art of the chain is an Italian speciality, but here it borders on the work of a master. Imagine perfectly interlocking rectangular links, with a double-sided element in the middle of each link that slides through the mesh. Each sliding element is adorned on either side with square-cut natural blue sapphires. The result is a chain that makes a soft sound when the sapphires tap back and forth, well protected in their closed setting. The Italian goldsmiths are no novices. Alfredo Correnti and Pippo Alvaro joined forces in 1968, focusing on the history of jewellery and antiquity, from the Cretans to the Romans, but also creating more contemporary jewellery, including chains that are each more complex than the last!
