Small in-4°, bound in full long-grain morocco, boards richly decorated with gilt and cold-stamped gilt flets and roulettes, author's name gilt on first board, gilt title on last board, ornate ribbed spine, gilt roulettes on front and back covers, moiré endpapers, gilt edges, gilt clasp with lock (the key is missing, but the clasp is open!). Minor rubbing to the boards and hinges (period binding). The album opens with a superb title in a hand-painted frame on parchment (gold, blue and red). This is followed by a watercolour depicting a mountain lake with a waterfall, another with a trio of women in costume, 5 leaves with a graphite pencil drawing, 26 watercolour aquatints on 15 leaves, 9 watercolour costume plates on 4 leaves, and 14 handwritten pages, written in brown ink and dated between 1824 and 1829, of comments by the author or copies of famous poems (Byron, etc.). Numerous blank pages in fine. Beautiful album, sumptuously bound.
