Seated Amitayus, ormolu sculpture, China, Qianlong period, dated 1770, seated in dhyanasana, adorned with numerous ornaments, on a partially openwork quadrangular pedestal, inscribed 大清乾隆庚寅敬造 (Da Qing Qianlong gengyin jing zao, Made during the gengyin year of the reign of Qianlong of the Great Dynasty Qing ), h. 18 cm (damage and missing parts). This "Buddha of Eternal Light" is part of the second of two series offered in 1761 and 1770 by the Qianlong emperor to various monasteries.
