BONE COUPLE AMULET Mesopotamian art, Archaic Dynastic period, 2600 - 2300 BC Small plate in domestic bovid (Bos taurus domesticus) bone (NR) depicting a couple dressed in striped clothing (kaunakes?), their arms brought to their chests, their heads formed by large eyes in pointed circles. There is a hole in the centre, probably for hanging the object. Height: 2 cm Provenance: According to the collection register: Acquired 10 September 1988 (Marriaud de Serres, Paris) Former Robert Blanchet collection (1921-2009), inventory no. 285 G. Blanchet Collection A Mesopotamian bone amulet with a couple, Early Dynastic Period, 2600-2300 B.C.
