AN EARLY ISLAMIC BRONZE EWER
Ca. 8th - 9th century AD . A bronze ewer of drop form with trough spout, each end of the scrolling handle terminating in the form of a gazelle's head, the body with a broad band of bold stylised scrolling vines culminating at the belly with a large floral motif set with copper-inlaid roundels. Size: 320mm x 175mm; Weight: 2.06kg Provenance: Previous property of an Islamic art professional. Previously Christie's sale, Indian & Islamic, 2020. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
