An early Meissen porcelain slop bowl with Hoeroldt Chinoiseries Decorated with finely painted figures in gilded purple lustre cartouches. The well with an identical cartouche surrounding a Chinoiserie figure with a fan and a bird in flight. The outer face adorned with large trailing Oriental style flowers and two exotic birds. H 8.5, D 16.4 cm. A minor chip to the outer edge. Ca. 1730, the décor attributed to Johann Gregorius Hoeroldt. These Chinoiserie motifs can be best compared with those decorating a tankard in the Kunstindustriemuseet Copenhagen (inv. no. B/33 1915, in cat. Exotische Welten. Der Schulz Codex und das frühe Meissener Porzellan, Leipzig-Munich 2010, no. 15 a).
