AN EARRING WITH EROS - former Kofler-Truniger collection
Hellenistic, ca. 4th century BC.
Gold. Rosette in an open, round capsule containing a stylized flower made of gold wire. Winged Eros as a pendant, holding a tree trunk in his right hand and a bowl in his left.
H 2.5 cm. Total weight 2.6 g.
Dirt marks and small dents on the rosette.
Provenance:
- Purchased from Zagos Yorgi, Istanbul (according to index card).
- Collection of Ernst and Marthe Kofler-Truniger (1903–1990 & 1918–1999), Lucerne before 1960 (inv. no. K732A).
- Swiss private collection, Lucerne, acquired from the above in ca. 1974.
- By inheritance in the same Swiss family collection, Lucerne.
