An elegant left-hand dagger dating: 1590 circa provenance: Saxony, Straight, double-edged blade of lozenge section, rectangular tang with light fuller. Typical iron hilt with quillons raised outwards and curved downwards, of flat section, rising towards the head and with grooves. Oval parry ring with pierced valve, faceted mushroom-shaped pommel with base worked with rings. Wooden grip covered with iron-thread wire binding and Moor's heads. See an almost identical example in 'Europäische Hieb-und Stichwaffen' by Müller/Kölling, Berlin, page 235 number 195. length 45 cm.
