An exceptional set of Parisian silver candlesticks Two pairs of candlesticks with round scalloped domed bases decorated with egg and dart mouldings amid acanthus and shellwork. The angular baluster form shafts of triangular section decorated with raised mascarons. The vase shaped nozzles with broad, separately worked drip pans. Each base emblazoned with two large oval rocaille cartouches, one clearly engraved with a coat-of-arms beneath a baronial crown, the other with a faint heraldic engraving. H each c. 29.5 cm, weight of the pairs 2,056 and 1,988 g. Paris, two pairs with marks of Eloy Guérin, 1750 – 53. One with year letter K for 1750/51, the other one with year letter M for 1752/53.
