An important armour
dating: third quarter of the 16th Century
provenance: Germany
Fit helmet with skull in one piece, provided with a comb featuring remains of roped engravings at the borders; raisable visor (replaced); pointed and ribbed ventail, provided with air holes on the right side; on the same side closing hooks with pressure buttons; the neckline with fitting system. Three-plate gorget, with fitting for the helmet. Chest-plate ribbed at the centre, with relieved bands and iron rivets, provided with gussets; two-plate skirt. The back-plate en suite, with two-plate culet. Complete brassards, with inarticulated gauntlets featuring three grooves at the cuff. Full legs, with winged knee-cops (one repaired) and scaled shoes. The armour (slightly restored, replaced visor, otherwise coeval) features a decoration with recessed margins, steel rivets and twisted roping. On a pedestal with wooden base.
