An important armour dating: third quarter of the 16th Century provenance: North Italy, Heavy closed helmet, with skull in one piece provided with crest, engraved with lines and rounded top; storm visor with crest worked en suite with the skull and with rectangular eye-slots, pointed and ribbed ventail with air holes on the right side; the closure wing screw on the right side; bevor with small restorations of the time, provided with closure hook. Neckline with embossed gate. With a central, engraved, brass plume holder at the rear side. A row of external rivets at the rear side, some are still covered in brass. Remains of original leather strings. All pieces outlined at the edges. Gorget with three-plate backpiece, provided with cord to interlock the helmet, the third plate is thicker and with mark. Breastplate ribbed at the center with extremely tapered tapul, the upper border is lowered and pointed, neckline and gussets raised, carved and roped on the border, with a mark (different from the one of the gorget) above, crest partially engraved and folded on the right side; three-plate backpiece with four-plate tassets, the last one with lowered margin and with border worked en suite with the neckline and gussets. Backplate worked en suite with single-plated culet. Complete brassards, neck collar with recessed margin above the pauldrons, rows of rivets and roped border. Star-shaped, embossed elbow-pieces (one with damage at the end), gauntlets, the cuffs with recessed margins provided with rivets and with roped border, five-plat rear side, the sixth plate with a raised back and roped, then another five plates, the last one with recessed, roped border. Complete full-leg defense with small knee-cops and scaled shoes. All parts except the helmet and gauntlets featuring the same decoration on the borders from the gorget to the shoes. On a fine pedestal with wooden base. Definitely one of the most beautiful armour of this kind presented on the international market in recent years. height without base 180 cm.
