An important pair of oriental style flintlock pistols from the property of Louis-Philippe I. Dating: second quarter of the 19th Century. Provenence: Paris Round, two-stage, 17 mm. cal. barrels, octagonal in the first part and signed "FIRMIN GAYMU / ARQr A PARIS" on both sides, on the central part is a trophy, on the upper parts are leaves, all of which is in engraved bas-relieved gold on a granulated dark background; on the center is another larger trophy made en suite; two silver barrel brackets embossed with floral and geometrical motifs, the mouth is decorated with a Greek key; on the tangs are gilded leaves and an engraved screw; beautiful locks completely engraved with trophies and leaves on a dotted background, gilded-silver pan; dark-wooden full-stocks with extraordinary silver mounts of high-relieved floral motifs, marked trigger guard; fake engraved silver ramrods.   In a wooden case with brass outlines, lined with blue velvet with the signature "FIRMIN GAYMU" in gold, with ramrods and keys, on the cover is a plate with the inscription "Presenté par les Amis de la Ville de Paris à la Majiestè Louis Philippe 1836". Beautiful gift the Parisian authorities gave to king Louis Philippe; a pair of prestigious weapons that combines the great artistic value of the famous French gunsmith with the splendor and the exotic style of the colonies.
