An important sword dating: circa 1500 Provenence: Spain Straight, double-edged blade with thickened tip and double central fuller, in the inside engravings picturing birds and gilded floral pattern, rectangular tang with a central groove; iron grip, the hilt bent towards the blade, two anellets, quillon-block with a cusp and a groove at the center, remains of gilding; fine restored pommel. Wooden grip with leather covering.Two similar models are in the Real Armeria of Madrid , see "Catalogo de la Real Armeria", page 211. More in Oakshot "The Sword in the Age of Chivalry", nr. 39C and 43. Origin: Galerie Fischer, Luzern, September 2002, nr. 100, pictured, here still without the pommel. condition report: very good
