An interesting cavalry helmet - dating: late 16th Century - provenance: Italy, One-piece skull, comb with twisted border, with few open-works and rivets with brass rosettes at the bottom, along the sides, and a slightly engraved, brass plume-holder at the back; raisable brim with handle and long, rectangular eye-slots; ventail ribbed at the centre, with outlined, slightly thickened margin decorated with notches, provided with air holes on the right; beaver with hook, two-plate neck-guard worked with thickened, notched edges, the lower one hemmed; nape-guard en suite. Restorations. height 34 cm.
