An Iranian gold mount with hunting scene, 2nd millennium B.C. An Iranian gold mount with hunting scene, 2nd millennium B.C. Two matching fragments of an elongated gold plate adorned with hunting scenes. Turned upper and lower edge, probably to attach the strip to a piece of clothing such as a belt. The figures are worked in repoussé and cold decorated with a bead and reel pattern. The animals and persons were portrayed with fine observational skills, a masterpiece of an early goldsmith. Slightly torn at the edges in some places. No replacements or restorations. Length 28 cm. Height 5.2 cm. Weight 49.4 g. Provenance: Private collection from Rhineland-Palatinate, formed by the consignor's grandfather. Condition: II -
