In 1933, André Sornay registered a patent entitled "Système de panneau de meuble et son mode d'assemblage" ("Furniture panel system and its assembly method"). This corresponds to an assembly system in which the outer panels reveal decorative metal spikes arranged in lines and spaced out, most often in one of André Sornay's favourite wood species: Oregon pine, rosewood or mahogany.
