ANGLO-SAXON / VIKING CLOISONNE BROOCH
Ca. AD 1000 - 1100.
A circular bronze brooch decorated in cloisonné technique with a central motif of a four-petalled flower formed in opaque white inlay, set against a background of alternating deep and pale blue glass segments arranged radially. The design is enclosed within a raised border with a projecting lug on each side. The reverse preserves the remains of the catchplate and pin mechanism.
