Lot no. 554
Tape loop with twisted end.
From the 'drink if you can' widespread since the Renaissance, it was at first sight literally impossible to drink, due to the numerous holes and openings at the top of these jugs, which inevitably caused the wine to spill onto the diner's clothes (and triggering hilarity at the table) as soon as the object was tilted.
The only way to drink without spilling anything on oneself was, and still is, to suck it out of the little hole in the brim: the wine will manage to rise from the bottom hole of the jug.
