Antoine Alexandre Marolles, "Dessinateur du Cabinet du Roy", painted a portrait of King Louis XV in October 17501. However, the King's physical appearance in our portrait leads us to compare our miniature with the large portrait in coronation robes by Hyacinthe Rigaud, dated 1730 (Musée du Château de Versailles). From 1739 onwards, the artist presented works to the king, so we can assume that our portraitist later reinterpreted his model with features corresponding to the age of 25 to 30.
