A 41 The swirling composition of this bronze, which is similar in Barye's output only to the Groupe d'ours (see A. Richarme and M. Poletti, 'op. cit.', p. 126, no. A 6), corresponds to the Romantic period of his work, between 1833 and 1838. The violence of the game or the fight is accentuated by this twirling movement, which also makes it possible not to favour any particular point of view. According to Alain Richarme and Michel Poletti, there were no more than twenty proofs of this model at the time.
