These figures were created by Antoine Sartorio for the Marseille municipal opera house, which was destroyed by fire in 1919. Rebuilt by the architects Castel, Ebrard and Raymond in 1924, the decor, created by a team of artists including Emile-Antoine Bourdelle, is a major example of Art Deco in Marseille.
