Antonio Llopart Castells

Copy of mural painting. Signed by Llopart on the back, dedicated “To my friend Anglada” and dated 1955.
Also on the back is a handwritten note by Llopart himself: “Copy of Hand of God Blessing. Fragment of Romanesque fresco mural painting from the Triumphal Arch of the Church of Sant Climent de Tahull located in the Vall de Bohi Lérida. Year 1123, currently in the Museum of Art of Catalonia, Barcelona.”
Catalan restorer and a great technician in painting transplantation, llopart worked alongside Josep Maria Gudiol Ricart, a prominent Catalan art historian, curator, and restorer who played a key role in the protection of Romanesque heritage. Together with restorers such as Llopart, Gudiol was involved in the conservation, study, and assembly of the mural paintings removed from Sant Climent and other temples in the Vall de Boí during the mid-20th century.
