This work is part of a series of sculptures on this theme, Les Parisiennes, the first of which, about a metre high, was presented in 1958 at the Salon des Peintres de leur Temps, the theme of which was Parisiennes. This series of representations of Parisian women by Volti culminated in 1992 with the creation of a stone sculpture of this model in Garges-lès-Gonesse, which has unfortunately now disappeared.
