Lot no. 134
[APOLLINAIRE (Guillaume). [La Chanson du mal-aimé]. Mercure de France. N°285. Paris, Mercure de France, 1st May 1909. In-8, leaves, printed cover. First edition of one of the most beautiful poems in French literature, published thanks to the support of Paul Léautaud in the Mercure de France (pp. 50-59). This is the only printed version of the poem where the punctuation is noted: Apollinaire removed it when he inserted the poem in Alcools (1913). However, according to Léautaud, "the first version was more beautiful than the second". Probably the only copy on chine (no proof).
