The writer Elémir Bourges, who had befriended the young poet, presented his works to the rising star of publishing, Pierre-Victor Stock. On 19 May 1910 the contract was signed. In October 1910, Apollinaire published his first book, L'Hérésiarque & Cie, a collection of short stories combining mysticism, crime and legend. Like any young author, he must have been jubilant when he received his first royalties.
