APULIAN BELL KRATER WITH STANDING MAN AND WOMAN OF THE SISYPHUS GROUP. Ca. 400 - 380 C. A large krater with a broad, inverted bell-shaped body that tapers towards a disc-shaped base, surmounted by a thick, flaring rim. Two loop handles are affixed to the upper body, curving inward. A continuous band of meander and chequered motifs encircles the lower part of the body, while the rim is framed by a frieze of laurel leaves. On Side A, a nude male figure stands to the left, holding a situla in his lowered right hand. He wears a fillet around his head and maintains a relaxed posture, facing a draped female figure to the right, who extends her right hand holding a patera. Her hair is adorned with a sakkos. Between them, a small altar with a flame is depicted. Side B presents two ephebi wrapped in himatia, facing each other.
