APULIAN RED-FIGURE BELL KRATER WITH FUNERARY SCENE Ca. 350 BC. A red-figure bell-krater with a broad, everted rim, horizontal loop handles set high on the shoulder, a deep, rounded body tapering to a short stem and a moulded disk foot. A laurel-wreath frieze runs beneath the rim; large palmettes beneath each handle are flanked by upright tendrils; a continuous wave pattern encircles the lower body. Side A shows a funerary offering scene: an elderly, bearded man seated nude on a draped stool, flanked by two women in long chitons, each bearing offering vessels, including a phiale and a situla. Side B depicts two confronting ephebi, each wrapped in a himation.
