ARATOS DE SOLES. Φαινόμενα και Διοσημεία. Paris, Guillaume Morel, 1559. In-4, brown half-chagrin, threaded spine (19th-century binding). First separate Greek edition of the astronomical poem by Aratos of Soles, describing the position of the stars and constellations. Guillaume Morel, the king's printer for the Greek language, published two editions of the Phenomena in the same year: this one gives the Greek version with commentaries by Theon of Alexandria and glosses by Leontius; the other is a Latin translation.
From the libraries of the Maurist abbey of Saint-Aubin in 1699 (ms. bookplate), Dulac in 1872 (ms. bookplate) and Vincent (stamp).
Without the two engraved plates of constellations. Some small brown spots and marginal halos.
