French Army, composed and lithographed. Paris, Lemière, , s.d. [1860]. . In-8 oblong (14.2 x 20.3 cm), publisher's red percaline, cold-stamped fillets, gilt interlacing and gilt title on first board, smooth spine. Voltigeurs, hussars or dragons: a remarkable panorama of the army corps of the Second Empire. First edition of this collection, decorated with a title and 18 full-page lithographs in colour, enhanced by hand with gum arabic. Binding a little rubbed, one spine partially split, endpapers loose, small red ink stain on flyleaves. Some foxing, soiling to the leaves, a tiny marginal loss to the last of them, rare tears not affecting the images. Source Osenat sale, Christopher Forbes Collection, 6 March 2016, lot no. 56.
