Rare Model 1898 bolt-action rifle converted K for the SS Allgemeine, cal. 8X57is, no. 3453, walnut frame, barrel punched with imperial marks, then stamped with the eagle with swastika next to which is a skull and crossbones surmounted by the initials "SS", breech bolt with different number, with sling, minor pitting, the skull mark appears to have also been stamped under the grip of the stock. Extractor broken. ABE This type of rifle equipped the SS before the creation of the Waffen SS in 1940, those being a paramilitary organization, they could not be supplied in the official markets of the army and were equipped according to other sources, inter alia rifles model 1898 shortened like our specimen.
