FIREARMS. DUTCH EAST INDIES. Large LANTAKA gun circa 1820-1830 with bronze tube, blunderbuss muzzle fitted with a sighting point, breech decorated with a medallion inscribed in Arabic reading: "Shah 'Alishah al-Nabi Muhammad Zain sanat 1241", long butt knob, mounting system for naval use. L: 188 cm, tube: 170 cm, calibre: 50 mm. Beautiful green patina. Circa 1825-1826. BE The inscription engraved in Arabic on the barrel attests that this gun was the property of Sultan Muhammad Zain of Ternate (1824-1859), a sultanate that encompassed eastern Indonesia and part of the Philippines at the time.
