Test musket with rear lock "à la Pontcharra", mounting in selected walnut, round rifled barrel with short thunder flats, primer chimney placed on the upper flange behind a frog with movable plate, rounded rear lock characteristic of the weapons "à la Pontcharra", short barrel with rounded iron mouthpiece similar to the musket 1829, iron ramrod, bayonet with socket model 1822, leather shoulder strap. L: 104 cm, barrel: 66 cm. BE This musket, which appears to have been entirely bronzed at the time of manufacture, bears no markings or control stamp attesting to its prototype nature circa 1835-1840 during the trials of M. Delvigne's narrowed chamber which led to the adoption of a rifled carbine for hunters.
