[ANTIQUE ARMS]. Officer's roller pistol of the guard of Christian II, Grand Elector of Saxony. The barrel is fluted, with thunder engraved on the upper three sides. Flat-bodied, plain lock; wheel under gilt brass domes engraved with foliage. Iron trigger guard. Fruitwood frame inlaid with bone plates engraved with foliage and chimeras; the two lock screws are surrounded by a bone inlay of floral motifs. The rear of the breech shafts have bone plates showing two mermaids; the corners of the grips are inlaid with bone fillets; the grips end in an engraved bone ferrule; very attractive pear-shaped pommel with six concave quarters inlaid with pearls and bone rosettes. Slight lack on the front of the frame to hold the stick. Wooden stick with engraved bone tip. 68 cm long. Germany, Saxony, Dresden. c. 1610 - 1620. Good condition.
