Sword of member of the institute of Egypt with gilded brass mounting, spherical pommel chased with palmettes, spindle with mother-of-pearl plates, that of the obverse decorated with a head of Pharaoh out of brass (badge of the institute), guard with a branch chased with acanthus leaves with in the centre a rosette, chased curved quillon, openwork keyboard with spider webs and decorated with acanthus leaves, triangular blade blued and engraved with gold scrolls to the third, heel signed "IS &C" (Schnitzler in Solingen), leather scabbard with 2 gilded brass trimmings.
