Sabre of the Swiss Guards of the King's Household of the model adopted in 1763, brass mounting, long-tailed cap with protruding rivet knob, wooden spindle covered with basane with simple filigree in twisted copper wire, palmette hilt with one main branch and one secondary branch, poucier, straight quillon in drop of tallow, semi-curved blade with gutter and counter-edge engraved with scrolls and a Turk's head in the first quarter, leather scabbard with 2 brass fittings. L: 88 cm, blade: 73.5 cm. The blade was certainly changed after 1792, the old scabbard is not in conformity with this type of sabre, no authentic scabbard is known to date for this elegant small sabre. ABE
