Light cavalry officer's sabre with gilt brass mounting, hilt with one rounded and moulded limb with palmette-shaped curved quillon and half lower auricles, pommel with short tail and "melon rib" cap, squared ebony spindle, curved blade with hollow sides and counter-edge, quarter gilt, engraved with foliage and trophies of arms, heel signed "S & C" which probably designates A. SCHNITZER in Solingen. SCHNITZER in Solingen, brass scabbard engraved with floral motifs framed on one side by 2 moulded bracelets, asymmetrical brass sting.
