Infantry officer's sabre with gilt brass mounting, moulded single-branch hilt stamped on the underside with the quillon "BOUTET" in a cartouche and the hallmarks "LD" and "AB", shuttle-shaped pommels, squared ebony spindle, Beautiful curved blade with hollow sides, one third engraved in gold with scrolls and trophies of arms on a bluish background in good condition, leather scabbard with 3 gilded brass fittings cut out in a brace and engraved with a garland of foliage. The scabbard is engraved on the obverse: "Le Général en Chef BONAPARTE au Cen PERUCHOT Jean LIEUTent à la 85e 1/2 brigade de ligne pour Action d'Eclat à la bataille d'Héliopolis" on the reverse "Armée d'Orient", these engravings are apocryphal as well as the hallmarks of Boutet and his controllers.
