Arrival of Marie-Louise in France
CAMBACÉRÈS (Jean-Jacques Régis). Letter signed with 3 autographed lines as Archchancellor of the Empire, addressed to Ferdinand Forest, Secretary General of the Prefecture of Strasbourg. Paris, 28 March 1810. 1/2 p. in-12 square; foxing.
"I have read... with interest the details you have given me concerning the visit of Her Majesty the Empress to the city of Strasbourg. Receive my thanks and the assurances of the affection which I preserve you...". In his hand, Cambaceres added: "I hope that the successor of Mr Shée will speak like him, and I will make known to him the interest which I take with my former collaborator". Henri Shée de Lignières, in bad health, had yielded his place of prefect of Bas-Rhin in February 1810 to Adrien de Lezay-Marnésia.
