Manuscript in-8, 76 pp, marbled basane, triple gilt fillet, smooth spine decorated (Binding of the period). Curious manuscript in two parts, a Chronological Précis (pp. 1-49) and an Astronomical Précis (pp. 51-76), written by an anonymous compiler for his personal use. The volume is decorated with an attractive handwritten title page in a rocaille frame. The cosmographical section consists of a Précis d'astronomie suivant M. l'abbé Dicquemare, d'un Autre extrait d'après la Cosmographie de M. Mentelle, Tables des équations du Soleil d'après l'abbé Dicquemare, as well as two large folded plates, carefully drawn in pen; one represents the Sun and the planets of the solar system (Résultats généraux sur le système du monde suivant la Cosmographie de M. Mentelle), and the other, the orbit of the Earth (Notion approximative du mouvement de la Terre dans son orbite autour du Soleil). Worn binding with missing headpieces and corners and some spotting, tear without missing the two folding plates, some stains and scattered freckles.
