In-f° : 23 maps, most on double page and all coloured in a contemporary hand, some highlighted in gold (slightly browned, light foxing, dampstain at the lower right corner of lvs g-D, left margin slightly trimmed at K2, centre fold split at N, very small marginal loss of paper at X, brown stain at 2A and pp. 116/117, lacking text pp. 197/198, clear dampstain at lvs 3R-3S and in the margin of 4G). Contemporary Dutch binding : full vellum with flaps, boards with double ornamental gilt frame and large central medallion, handwritten title on ornamented flat spine, gilt edges, remains of green silk fore-edge ties (traces of red wax on the inside of the covers). Concerns : America (North and South). Contains : 23 maps including the general map of the continent with decorative borders figuring town views and costumes and 3 leaves with large interesting views of Pernambuco and Paraiba. # Koeman van der Krogt 2:611.12. Provenance : Charles de Lorraine (his autograph signature in lower margin of the title page).
