ATTIC BLACK-FIGURE LEKYTHOS WITH DANCING MAENADS Ca. 530 - 500 BC. A black-figure terracotta lekythos with a slender body on a small flanged foot, a high, narrow neck, a flared rim, and a single strap handle rising from the shoulder to the base of the neck. The main register depicts three maenads in long chitons, shown dancing with arms raised and heads turned in lively motion. A frieze of vertical tongues decorates the shoulder above, and a reserved band separates the figural scene from the black-glazed lower body.
