ATTIC BLACK-FIGURE LEKYTHOS WITH DIONYSIAC SCENE Ca. 530 - 500 BC. A black-figure lekythos with a tall, tapering body, a wide disk foot, and a single strap handle rising from the shoulder to the flaring rim. The main frieze presents a Dionysiac procession with two maenads flanked by two satyrs. The maenads wear long, pleated chitons and are shown in lively poses with arms raised. The satyrs are depicted with animalistic features, long tails, and erect phalluses. A band of vertical black rays decorates the shoulder.
