ATTIC RED-FIGURE SKYPHOS WITH OWLS.
Ca. 440 - 400 BC
A red-figure skyphos with a tapering body, twin horizontal handles, and a low disc foot. Each side is decorated with a single owl shown frontally, with large circular eyes and linear wing markings, framed by laurel branches that rise alongside the handles and separate the two panels.
Size: 145mm x 70mm; Weight: 145g.
Private London collection; previously acquired on the Belgian art market; originally in the collection of C Whitehead, Brussels 1990’s.
