This bowl is attributed to the famous Roman marble worker and bronze caster Benedetto BOSCHETTI (1820–1860). His workshop produced objects, bronzes and mosaic table trays, inspired by antiquity, which met the growing demand from travellers on the Grand Tour. He is described in 1847 in a publication by the scholar Gaetano Moroni, who praises the mosaic panels depicting the ‘Triumph of Love’, currently held in the Gilbert Collections at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London (G. Moroni, Dizionario storico di erudizione ecclesiastica, vol. XLVII. Venice. 1847, p. 80.
